Designed to ignite curiosity and confidence in children through immersive, hands-on food education. Each session mixes creativity, sensory exploration, and practical skills.
In the classroom: Our Programme is made up of 4 x 1 hour sessions that can be delivered directly from the classroom.
Flavour Lab
Welcome to the world of taste! In this session, children explore the five key tastes – sweet, salty, sour, bitter and umami – using surprising combinations like white chocolate and blue cheese. It’s all about experimenting, opening minds, and understanding why we crave certain flavours. This is science and pure fun all rolled into one delicious lesson.
Chop Like a Chef
Put on your aprons and let’s get slicing! Children learn real chef skills, including safe knife techniques like the claw and the bridge, while making vibrant raw dishes learning about food origins using seasonal vegetables. Expect dips, salads and puddings – all prepped with pride by your young chefs.
Global Grub
Get ready to travel the world through food! In this exciting, hands-on session, children explore how different cultures cook, eat, and come together over meals. From rolling rice paper wraps to mashing guacamole or folding flatbreads, they’ll prepare and try dishes inspired by global cuisines — all while learning about food traditions, celebrations, and ways of eating around the world. Children are encouraged to share their own food stories, try something new, and build confidence and curiosity with every bite.
Restaurant in Action
Step into the buzz of a restaurant! In this fun, role-play session, children explore how everything works beyond the kitchen – from welcoming guests to serving food and working as a team. They’ll set tables, take orders, and step into different roles, building confidence, communication skills, and understanding of how a restaurant runs. It’s all about teamwork, great service, and bringing the whole dining experience to life.
Farm to fork.
Prept delivers ‘Farm to fork’ sessions through a full-day trip to Plumpton College in Sussex.
Give your students a hands-on, inspiring experience that brings food, farming, and cooking to life. Designed for up to 30 students and four adults, the Prept Farm to Fork Day offers a unique opportunity to discover where food really comes from and why it matters.
Practice skills with our chefs in the professional Training Kitchen, take a tour of the working farm with our farmers, and sit down to enjoy the lunch you’ve made.
