BiBi

Chef Chet Sharma’s culinary journey is as unique as it is inspiring. Raised in Berkshire with roots in India and London, his love for food began during childhood visits to his family’s farm in Gurgaon, India. A vivid memory of enjoying handmade malai kofta prepared with fresh, local ingredients by his uncle sparked a lifelong passion for authentic, ingredient-driven cuisine.

Born with a lung condition, Chet spent much of his youth observing his grandmother cook, learning resourcefulness and the art of waste management. A voracious reader, he excelled academically, earning a Chemistry degree at UCL, followed by a Master’s in Neurology and a DPhil in Condensed Metaphysics at Oxford.

While pursuing academics, Chet gained experience in prestigious kitchens, including The Fat Duck, Le Manoir, and Mugaritz in Spain, where he honed his skills and developed a love for innovation. He later joined Simon Rogan’s Umbel Restaurant Group and worked with JKS Restaurants as Group Development Chef.

In 2021, after years of refinement and perseverance, Chet opened BiBi in Mayfair, an ode to his grandmothers and their culinary influence. The restaurant, praised for its bold, creative menus using heritage grains and single-origin spices, quickly earned acclaim as a standout in modern Indian cuisine.
