The Pass

Ben Wilkinson is a renowned British chef who has made a significant impact on the culinary world with his innovative techniques and exceptional dishes.

His first foray in the kitchen was two decades ago when he began working at a golf course restaurant in Derbyshire. This then led to his role at The Windows at The Hilton Park Lane in London, before taking up a role in the Netherlands at a boutique hotel restaurant in the Hague called Savelberg. While positioned at Savelberg, Wilkinson was awarded his first taste for Michelin-level cooking.

When returning to the UK he joined the team at Holbeck Ghyll in Windemere for two years, followed by a year at Daniel Clifford’s Midsummer House before returning to Holbeck for another year. Shortly followed by his term at The Cottage in the Wood, where Cumbria’s legendary produce provided a rich larder for then-chef director Ben Wilkinson, who won his and The Cottage’s first Michelin Star in 2019 – within 18 months of joining the team.

Wilkinson reopened The Pass in August 2022 bringing Michelin star success and a wealth of experience from his former position at The Cottage in the Wood in the Lake District. Within just seven months The Pass was awarded a Michelin star and 4 AA Rosettes, a true testament to the exceptional talent. Ben not only brought his talent for creating exquisite tasting menus but co-manages the team with his partner, Monika Zurawska, who leads the front-of-house team to deliver exceptional service and knowledge of the menu.

With a passion for using the highest quality, seasonal ingredients, Wilkinson creates dishes that are not only visually stunning but also bursting with flavours. His culinary style is a perfect blend of classic techniques and modern creativity, resulting in a unique and unforgettable dining experience.
