Halloween Hummus – Zai
Information
Makes one medium pumpkin or bowl full of hummus
Ingredients
1 can chickpeas (400g), drained and rinsed
2 tbsp tahini
Juice of 1 lemon
1 garlic clove
3 tbsp olive oil (plus extra to drizzle)
Salt and pepper to taste
A dash of cumin (optional)
1 small/medium pumpkin, cleaned out for serving (we used the flesh for scrumptious soup!). You can also use a normal bowl if not celebrating Halloween.
Method
Step 1
Scoop out the pumpkin to use as a bowl. Get a grown-up to help cut off the lid.
Step 2
In a blender or food processor, combine chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, and olive oil.
Step 3
Blend until smooth, adding a bit of water if too thick.
Step 4
Season with salt and pepper, then scoop into your pumpkin bowl.

Zai served his hummus with yummy slices of red pepper!
